About A-Scratch

The first 18 years of A-Scratch’s life were spent in La Crosse Wisconsin, where he formed his first outlook on hip-hop music, digging for records at Deaf Ear and Goodwill. Many of these records were used in some of his earliest productions.

He then went to college at Eau Claire (UWEC) and continued to refine his skills while DJing at the on-campus nightclub. Other locations A-Scratch DJed at were The Metro, The Cornerstone, Shenanigans, The Brat Cabin, Zorn arena, and most notably the Stones Throw where he founded “Turntable Tuesday.” At this time, he met up with rappers Six Nine and Romes and formed the group We One.

A-Scratch moved to Minneapolis, where he has worked with many established artists such as Carnage, Capaciti, Rising Path, Lars Nelson, and The Crest just to name a few. He has produced many singles, mix-tapes, and full-length albums and is often featured on songs from artists that need some additional scratching in the chorus. As a DJ, he was the official outdoor event DJ for the Minnesota Wild, and even opened at a pre-party event for Lady Gaga. Before Covid hit, he had a 4-year residency at Five Watt coffee house where he would play the best in 45 rpm records on Sunday afternoons.
